About Us

Hi everyone, my name is James, owner of Sudale Sports Therapy. I am a graduate Sport Therapist, working from PB Fitness gym in Pontardawe. I graduated as a Sport Therapist in 2022 with a First Class Honours degree at the University of Wales Trinity Saint Davids. I am very determined to help as many people as i can through their path to recovery from injury. I use an evidence based approach for best treatment outcomes. My hobbies include going to the gym, running, walking, playing golf and football. If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Benefits of Exercise

Exercise is the strongest medication you can have. It will increase blood flow and circulation which will help the healing process. Exercising will reduce any unnecessary inflammation around the injured site.  Furthermore, rehabilitative exercise encourages you to move appropriately by strengthening the injured area and building your confidence, thereby avoiding further injury. This will encourage you to move better. Every person has different abilities therefore it is my goal to find the right recovery methods and exercises for you in order to optimise your recovery.

After having persistent shoulder pain when in a deep bench press, i decided to visit Sudale Sports Therapy to address the issue. After only one session James identified and corrected the issue. Following the session he sent me several mobility, foam rolling and strengthening exercises to help me with the injury. I was so impressed with his work i've since worked with him addressing a 3 year old ankle injury, general soft tissue work and most recently a grade 2 hamstring strain. James has regularly sent me rehab plans of these injuries. Even after not seeing James for some time he kept in contact sending me stage after stage progressions to help me. I have since recommended James to several friends and would recommend him to anyone looking to get on the path to recovery.

I visited Sudale Sports Therapy with a ligament & tendon foot injury which, just two weeks before a skiing holiday! The specialist suggested 6-8 weeks recovery, which pretty much wrote off my holiday. James invited me to his studio and spent time giving lots of exercises which drastically cut down my recovery time. He was in regular contact to keep up to speed on the healing progress. Inside just 2 weeks, the injury has recovered, and i was able to ski comfortably with no pain. Thanks Suds for all your help, have recommended to many people!

I started seeing James a few months ago because i was unhappy about my rate of recovery from a frozen shoulder after a biking accident. I've been having regular sessions with him at PB gym, each one designed to make incremental improvements to my shoulder mobility and strength and i'm seeing steady progress. It's a slow process due to the nature of the injury, but he keeps me interested and motivated by changing the type and intensity of the exercises as my mobility improves. There's a huge range of equipment at the gym, and the routines are fun and challenging (in a good way). I wish i'd come to see him sooner!

I would wholeheartedly recommend Sudale Sports Therapy. He is professional, incredibly knowledgeable and he is also great value as it's been a really positive experience and physical investment in my recovery. I have has to turn up at his clinic in some terrible states, once having taken a fall running down a mountain and once after a nasty skiing accident which left me with a fractured bone. In the dark moments of pain and uncertainty that followed each accident I think visiting James gave me huge relief and hope in how i could work towards waking up in the morning pain free and then get back to training and racing. I have left every time feeling huge relief knowing what to do next and James has given me light at the end of the tunnel. His professionalism and clear reassurance on how to recover has been really invaluable to me. I strongly feel without seeing James i would have probably become very depressed but instead i've found the process to recover a clear positive challenge to work on. My mountain fall left me with huge pain in my knee yet after seeing James i was given the all clear to race again and three weeks later i raced it Swansea Ironman 70.3 triathlon with total confidence. I'm now 37, i have raced nationally and internationally previously but i'm now a mum, juggling work and family and i'm at the stage where i really want to maximise what i do and i feel improving my physical performance should still be within reach. I do a lot of endurance training and being able to visit James has made it possible for me to keep my targets in sight and be able to jump out of bed in the mornings to train and feel confident about it. James's high standards, understanding and clear positive outlook makes a trip to his clinic help resolve doubts and help find a way forward. FIVE STARS FROM ME.

I first contacted James regarding getting back to running after an achilles injury and a constantly aching hip and knee. After a session assessing me a plan was devised. Plenty of exercises specific to the injured areas and within weeks there was huge improvements. Exercises to practice at home between sessions at his clinic as well. I've gone from not being able to get past half a mile without feeling pain to running 4 miles straight and no pain at all. Cannot speak highly enough of James's knowledge and dedication into his work to know exactly how to treat me. Will recommend James to anyone with any type of injury.

I can highly recommend James. We have been working on several longterm injuries and the improvements have been immense for me; both physically and mentally. James takes the time to evaluate the issue and build and exercise strategy around that. He also further researches the condition so that he is fully conversant with it. With my injuries I have found him to be knowledgeable as well as patient, and is not afraid to change if exercises are not working at that time. His sessions are challenging but also enjoyable. Regular reviews chart the progress from the initial assessment to developing improvement. I was able to discharge myself from hospital due to the treatment he provided. I have verbally recommended James to friends and family, whom I know have used his services, and are more than satisfied with their results. I cannot recommend him strongly enough.
